Heated pools, long lunches and cooler evenings. At XO Cape Arnna, autumn brings a different pace to the Turkish Riviera.
Autumn feels different this far south. In Fethiye, lunch can still be outside, the afternoon sun still has some warmth to it and the sea holds on to much of the heat it gathered through summer. A swimsuit remains a perfectly sensible thing to pack, particularly at XO Cape Arnna, where heated pools keep swimming firmly on the agenda.
What changes most is the pace. Mornings can begin in the pool, followed by the sauna or an hour at the spa. By lunchtime, the terraces are still lively, but without the intensity of high summer. There is time to sit a little longer, order another coffee and let the afternoon take care of itself.
The evenings belong to autumn. The cooler air makes dinner feel cosier, tables stay occupied for longer and there is less temptation to rush on to whatever comes next. Restaurants become places to settle into rather than pass through.
Later, GOAT draws its own crowd. Some come for a match, others for a drink after dinner, and familiar faces from breakfast or the pool turn up again. After a few nights, the hotel begins to feel like somewhere you know.
That is the pleasure of autumn at XO Cape Arnna: the coast is still warm and inviting, but the mood is quieter, slower and entirely its own.
Warm water, cooler air, long dinners and nowhere else you particularly need to be.
